Binge-Worthy: Romantic Comedies

31 October 2017

Publication Date: October 31, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
In this fiery series debut from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Brent, a workplace romance might prove too hot to handle. Still reeling from a nasty divorce, Melanie Cruz’s pride takes another beating when she loses her enviable job at an upscale resort. After a flurry of unsuccessful interviews, she finally—desperately—accepts a job managing a small chain of family-owned pizzerias in a quaint downtown Phoenix neighborhood. The job also comes with Dominic Esposito, her overbearing but ridiculously handsome boss. Falling for him might be the last thing she expects, but maybe it’s the one thing she needs. As hard as they try to resist, Melanie and Dominic embark on a romance as hot as a brick oven, and Melanie has every reason to believe that maybe, this time, she’s finally found “the one.” But Dominic has a secret—one even his family doesn’t know. And the scandal could threaten everything he and Melanie have worked for…in business and in love.

Cora Brent

Cora Brent was born in a cold climate and escaped as soon as it was legally possible. Now, she lives in the desert with her husband, two kids and a prickly pear cactus she has affectionately named ‘Spot’. Cora’s closet is filled with boxes of unfinished stories that date back her 1980’s childhood and all her life she has dreamed of being an author. Amazingly, she is now a New York Times and USA Today bestselling writer of contemporary romance and begs not to be awakened from this dream.

There’s a world just beyond the veil… in the dark, out of sight, and out of reach for most. That is where they live.
Spirits, demons, and creatures of myth.
For decades, one organization has sought to uncover the secrets of harnessing the power on the other side of the veil for its own misdeeds.
And for decades, a group devoted to protecting life and the natural order has worked to counter the efforts of evil.
Emma is the perfect guardian, living in isolation until called on, accompanied by a tenacious Siberian husky bonded as her familiar and companion. Her life and existence is devoted to one end – using her unique abilities to maintain the balance and bring an end to that which does not belong.
Luca is a paranormal expert capable of seeing beyond the veil and communicating with the other side. With his spirit companions, Sutter and Virgil, he’s called on to investigate an unusual event that will forever change him, and the small border town he once called home.
After a chance encounter, Luca will awaken something in Emma that will force her to face her most difficult struggles, and inspire a whole new reason to fight.

Derek Adam
Derek is a retired Emergency Medical Professional and has been a lover of telling stories his entire life, having made the transition from “filthy liar” to “sexy author” about the same time silver hairs started showing up in his face (and other places.)

In the early days, he attempted to write science fiction and high fantasy, but discovered it was more fun to write about people touching other people’s tingle-places (smut is cool.) while mixing in action, explosions, and plenty of WTF moments.

He’s also a gamer, gym rat, snow hater (despite living in Michigan), life liver, stunt double for Hulk, and he considers himself to be aggressively unfancy.

When is your birthday?
July 20th
Where did you grow up?
In a Northwest suburb of Chicago.
Are you a morning person, or a night person?
Night.
Why did you choose to write for the genre that you do?
I find that writing supernatural / paranormal gives you a wide range of places to go. There are no boundaries.
What is your favorite season or holiday?
Halloween.
If you could go anywhere in the universe, where would you go, and why?
If there is an edge to the universe, I’d go there. To see what is on the other side.
What is the wallpaper on your cellphone?
Mystery Science Theater 3000
What is one thing that most people do not know about you?
I’m a big SpongeBob fan. Of the first three seasons.
What is the most attractive, and the first thing you notice, about the opposite sex?
Hair.
What kind of drunk person do you turn into when you drink?
Funny.
If you could be any color in the big box of crayons, which one would you be?
Black.

Who would win in a fight: Batman or Spiderman?
Batman.
Do you believe in Ghosts? Aliens? Big Foot?
Yes, yes, and yes.
So, the Moon Landing, did it actually happen?
LOL. Of course it did.
If only one of your books could be turned into a movie, which one would you choose and why?
Morium. I wrote the script and it is now in the hands of a producer. As far as why, because it has a strong moral basis to the story and would be different then other teen angst movies recently out in theaters. I am also in the process with another scriptwriter to turn another one of my books into a series.
Who is your favorite author, and/or what is your favorite book?
Stephen Kind. World War Z.
Do you ever google yourself?
Yes.
What is one food, or drink, that you could NEVER give up?

Do you sing in the shower?
If you want to call it singing.
Do any of the scenes in your books come from personal experience, or actually events, and are you willing to tell us about one?
Some of the main characters in my books are me in one form or another. Morium has one instance where a character has gum thrown into his hair during class in High School. That happened to me during my Freshman year.
If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?
Lobster.
Are you a Clutter King or a Neat Freak?
Clutter King.

Alone.

 Sticky.

Read minds.
Know the history of everything you touch, or be able to speak to animals?
Know the history.
Live your worst day ever, over and over again, for one year; or lose one year of your life completely?
Lose a year of life.
Be permanently transported 200 years into the future, or be permanently transported 200 years into the past?
200 years in the past.
Looking Forward...
What are you currently working on?
Screenplay for Splintered Love for a series. A Christmas short story, and my first stand-alone novel.
What other plans do you have with your writing?
To go darker in my storytelling. Maybe write one story with a happy ending.

Staci Hart
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
