She's writes Contemporary and New Adult Romance, she's from Ohio, and she's taken some time out of her busy life to answer questions just for us, My Pretties!
She discovered her love of Romance after discovering her spirit story, and that led her to us today.
"I love reading and my genre of choice is Romance. Any kind of Romance is acceptable. I'm a hopeful romantic, who believes that love comes when least expected.
I especially love the toe curling tales of obsession and love. Sometimes the enemies that become lovers stories will sooth my craving. Luckily in the romance genre you can find just about any sort of story you desire. Ultimately, if I'm presented with a cocky hero and a strong willed heroine, I am in heaven."

When is your birthday?
December 21st,
almost a Christmas baby.
Where did you grow up?
Mansfield Ohio. In the suburbs
Are you a morning person, or a night
person?
Yes, I’m a morning person
after five cups of coffee. Some people call me bubbles, Yes, I am one of those
people. It’s all the caffeine’s fault.
Why did you choose to write for the
genre that you do?
Well, it’s simply because I’m a romance junkie myself. I love
romance- all romance. I can read anything from BDSM to sweet gushy kissy clean
romance. I love the feeling of falling in love. So, I do it frequently.
What is your favorite season or
holiday?
I love the fall. The
changing of the leaves and the nip in the air, so I can cuddle closer to the
hubs at the football games. Enjoying bonfires before the snow comes.
If you could go anywhere in the
universe, where would you go, and why?
The beach, any beach. Well as long as it’s clean. I love St.
Augustine Beach Florida. It was a little slice of Heaven. I just love my toes
in the sand and the sound of the waves rolling in. Plus, the salty scent in the
air is so refreshing. (I feel like I just wrote an Calgon commercial.) (Ha Ha)
What is the wallpaper on your cellphone?
A picture of the Hubs and myself. A friend caught us Pre-New Year’s
kiss. We are just inches away from celebrating.
What are three things that you
always keep handy at all times?
My stethoscope (nurse by day) A pen, and my cellphone.
What inspires you, or where do you
look for inspiration?
Everyday life. I try to experience life and other people. I use
what I see to help me with my stories.
What is one thing that most people
do not know about you?
I loathe disappointing
someone. More times than not, I will be harder on myself than anyone could ever
be.
What is the weirdest thing that you
have ever googled?
Smegma, yep look it up. It’s not cool. (Damn, Cards Against
Humanity- I love that game though)
What is one piece of advice that you
would give to future generations?
Be kind, teach patience and understanding and remember it’s all
about perspective.
What is the most attractive, and the
first thing you notice, about the opposite sex?
Their eyes. I love pretty eyes on a man. Especially with long
eye lashes. I love kind expressive eyes.
Who is the first person you call
when you are having a bad day?
My friend Bri. She understands my crazy.
What kind of drunk person do you
turn into when you drink?
Well initially I get a little loud, especially when I laugh.
Then I get a little lovey. Don’t worry no groping but I like to hug on people.
Any people. I have no personal space sober so the alcohol just decreases the
distance.
How would you describe your favorite color to
a blind person?
Hmm, I guess I would
describe it as a cool and soothing. It has a calming effect. Did you guess blue or should I work on my
writing.
If you could be any color in the big
box of crayons, which one would you be?
Periwinkle and only because I love the name. The name, in itself
is a masterpiece.
What is your favorite 90’s throwback
jam?
Zen by Bush -Loved the Grunge era
What do you put on your pizza?
Sausage, pepperoni,
veggies, & black olives. Yum
What is your favorite ice cream
flavor?
Chocolate
If only one of your books could be
turned into a movie, which one would you choose and why?
Just Live since it has
a moral to tell. I love how Kathryn overcomes her demons and strives to live
her life to the fullest. Even when she has a few setbacks, she trudges forward.
Kathryn is an interesting character.
She’s smart without knowing it, beautiful without seeing it, and strong
without feeling it. Jaz compliments her so well and is so charismatic and kind.
Everyone should have a Jaz in their life.
Who is your favorite author, and/or
what is your favorite book?
A favorite author/book is difficult for me to answer since I
love so many. I have a few books that I’ve read multiple times like “Sweet
Thing by Renee Carlino” I love that story. “Beautiful Disaster by Jamie
Mcguire” and “Thoughtless by S.C.Stephens” and many more.
Do you ever hide secrets in your
books that only a few people would find?
That’s for me to know…. Ha Ha
What is one food, or drink, that you
could NEVER give up?
Noodles-any kind. I love noodles.
Do you sing in the shower?
Yes, very loudly!
Do any of the scenes in your books
come from personal experience, or actually events, and are you willing to tell
us about one?
Yes, in both of my
books I had taken experiences from my life and placed it in my books.
In Just Live,
Kathryn’s roommate Snake has many snakes. In one of the scenes Kathryn is
telling Jaz about an incident with a microwave.
When I lived in my
first apartment, I had this amazing roommate, who owned many snakes. I was
terrified of them, but what better way to get over my fear, right? (I have too
many snake stories, but we’ll just stick to this one.) One day I came home from work and my roommate
was nuking something in the microwave and I asked in passing what he was
heating when he nonchalantly responded that he was defrosting a frozen rat for
one of his snakes- (IN THE MICROWAVE) the one I cook out of? Let’s just say
that I was less than happy about it and he knew I hated when he brought home
the live ones.
Other than that, he
was the perfect roommate.
See but never smell, or hear but
never taste?
See but never smell-
it seems like the lesser of two evils. Even though smell does effect taste.
Good question.
More From Shaan Ranae!
What are you currently working on?
I just released Just
Live March 7th
Currently I am working
on the follow up story to A Minor Happy Ending. Jace fights for Dyllan.
What other plans do you have with
your writing?
I will continue to
write as I’m inspired. I want the quality to be something the reader will love.
My dream is to give readers a book hangover. I have a love/hate relationship
with book hangovers. Love the book- hate the hangover.
When is you next book possibly going
to release?
Hopefully by the end
of the year as long as everything goes well.
